But, the innovation of these designs has been limited to V-engines. Although, other mechanisms can be induced in engine designs to improve mechanical efficiency to more than 200%. To say in brief, the design has lost its meaning in this field to some extent. Nowadays, electric vehicles are cutting a big share in the market just because of limited research and development.
For example, only a few countries including the USA, Germany, and Japan are involved in R&D. While the consumers are all over the world including the poorest of countries. In order to make IC engines dominate the market again, companies should focus on decentralized research and development zones. China has already started the procedures, India being the biggest market after it should promote and start as well.

Future of Engine Design:
In the future electric vehicles going to dominate the market, but the IC engine will be revolutionalizing too. Talking about the mechanics and mechanism of such engines, it is sure that the world will see more cent percent efficient machines. I myself being an engine designer have sketches about a highly efficient machine which are way better than the present IC engines. The solution lies in using energy per kg offered by petroleum products, which are way ahead of lithium-ion batteries in the market today.
Nobody has focused on using the full potential of petroleum energy.
Future engine designs are going to be highly dependent upon artificial intelligent machines using CAD-aided methods for the purpose along with sensored advancements in the field of will to design an engine. You think of an idea, you wear an artificial reality product, and you talk to the intelligent computer to do the rest for you. My opinion about racing or high-power machines is, it's going to be a hybrid model that will exhale success out of both electric and oil-based engines. A combination of highly efficient supercapacitors and IC engines produce a well-balanced result of high power machinery.
